Emma is a Consultant Employment Solicitor with over 20 years of post-qualification experience. She was named as a Key Lawyer in the Legal 500 directory for employment law. Emma assists employers and employees with both contentious and non-contentious employment law matters. She has niche experience in the education and charity sectors and frequently works with start-ups and SMEs to ensure compliance. Emma advises on the employment aspects of TUPE service provision changes, business transfers, and public to private sector outsourcing, including LGPS.
Her expertise spans negotiating settlements, bringing and defending tribunal claims, and assisting HR with complex employee relations issues. Emma also reviews and updates contracts of employment, policies and procedures, and contracts for services, providing comprehensive advice on employment status.
Qualifying as a solicitor in 2005, Emma has dedicated her entire career to employment law and HR practice. She has worked both in-house and in private practice, including roles as an in-house lawyer for ISS Facility Services UK and one of the largest UK animal charities. Emma has also headed up the HR Department at the Royal Ballet School and has experience working within HR departments, particularly in the areas of Employee Relations and Policy.
Emma is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and the Law Society of England and Wales. She holds a Legal Practice Course, a Postgraduate Diploma in Law, and an upper second class BA Hons degree from King's College London in Classical Civilisation with English Literature.
