Domestic violence and abuse criminal offences

Accusations of domestic violence or abuse can take many forms and can constitute criminal offences ranging from Grievious Bodily Harm (GBH), Actual Bodily Harm (ABH) through to rape, stalking, harassment, criminal damage, blackmail and other possible offences.

Abuse may include physical harm, sexual assault, controlling or coercive behaviour, harassment, abusive phone calls, letters or messages, or stalking.

All of these offences are serious and if convicted can lead to facing time in jail. As well as a conviction, charges and/or a conviction can leave your reputation in tatters. If you have been accused of domestic violence or abuse, we would advise that you seek legal advice as early as possible. By obtaining advice early it can assist in tackling the claims from the offset and avoid making matters worse.

We have a Criminal Defence team who are adept at dealing with allegations of all forms of domestic violence, including:

  • Financial abuse

  • Threatening words or behaviour
