Free Wills Month raises millions for charity

News
21st Jan 2022

Our Wills, Trusts and Probate department have raised over 3 million pounds for Charity during Free Wills Month in March 2021.

The Free Wills Month supports:

Every March, Free Wills Month brings together the group of above charities to offer members of the public aged 55 and over the opportunity to have their simple Wills written or updated free of charge by using participating solicitors in selected locations across England, Northern Ireland, and Wales.

An up-to-date Will ensures that your wishes are respected, and it also avoids difficult decisions and legal complications for your loved ones.

In turn, they hope that Clients will make a gift in their Will to one of the participating charities.

There are a number of reasons why it is important to have a Will in place. Without a Will, you have no control over who may benefit from your estate on your death. Not only this, many believe you must own assets to leave a Will. This is not he case.

A Will does not only provide for who is to receive money, assets, property etc. It also provides for many other very important aspects to be considered when you pass away such as guardians for children under 18, care for pets, distribution of personal belonging and funeral wishes.

Having your Will drawn up by a professional, who has the knowledge and expertise in Wills, ensures that legalities are watertight and potential mistakes are avoided. Most importantly it allows you to have your questions answered.

A professional is able to listen to your current circumstances and ensure correct provisions (that many people would be unaware of or not understand) are included in the Will.

Jessica Shale, Associate in our Wills, Trusts & Probate department said, “I want to take this opportunity to share one way in which we love working with charities. I have been working with Free Wills Month since my career in Wills began around 7 years ago; I was delighted to learn that I could continue my support when I began working for Taylor Rose just over four years ago.”

She continued: “I have a number of fantastic colleagues who also love to take part in the Free Wills Month Scheme every year and so we are able to offer our services to clients in a number of different locations nationwide.”

“I am absolutely blown away and very proud to learn that as a firm, Taylor Rose helped to raise a staggering £3,384,570 of future income for the Free Wills Month Charities.”

“I look forward to continuing my work with Free Wills Month in 2022!”
