Katherine is a Higher Courts Advocate in all criminal proceedings with a wealth of experience and success in bail, and trials.
Within extradition proceedings Katherine has successfully challenged complex requests for extradition at the magistrates' court and the Appellate Court on the grounds of breaches of the European Convention on Human Rights, Extradition Act 2003, UK -EU TA 2020. She has experience in challenging requests from the United States, Kenya, Paraguay, Russia, Turkey, Bermuda, and member states of the EU. She also has expertise in fair trial rights, rights to retrial, right to private life, prison conditions, discrimination and decisions to try having been instructed in some of the most significant appeal cases relating to these issues with particular expertise in areas involving fair trials and corruption in the requesting state.
Katherine can advise on the use of International Human Rights Treaties to protect rights within the UK and other jurisdictions; representations to the UN Special Rapporteur; interim measures and admissibility at ECHR; Judicial Review and Habeas Corpus in the High Court; Interpol Red Notices; extradition cases involving children and Wardship.
