Corporate Q2 Director’s Award Winner – Jade Brown

Congratulations to Jade Brown who has won our Corporate Directors Award for Q2 2022!

Jade is a Solicitor within our Civil Litigation Department based in our Fulham Office; she has been with the firm for 4 years. Jade primarily deals with cases regarding actions against the police, inquests, judicial reviews, and human right claims. Jade describes what she does as “holding the state to account when things go wrong.”

Jade said that she felt very proud when she found out she had won the Corporate Directors Award for Q2.

Jade was nominated for the corporate award after receiving nominations from her colleagues for going above and beyond for her team. A key instance of this was whilst Jade was on maternity leave, she chose to assist on some cases, in particular on two matters that had been personally referred to her and she settled the funding issues.

Jade was also nominated because she set up a billing workshop for trainee solicitors within the civil litigation department where they could cascade knowledge on notes and fees with a view to obtain optimum billing.

Jades favourite aspect about her work is being given the opportunity to provide help and support to others whilst working alongside a superb team who are always extremely supportive and knowledgeable.

The most challenging part of her role is managing clients’ expectations. She said, “she manages this by advising every step of the way and being honest and open with clients. Having a dialogue with client’s is extremely important in the area of work that I do.”

When asked what her key to success is, Jade said, “it’s working hard and building good relationships with clients.”

Following from this, Jade’s one tip to colleagues is that “communications with client’s is key.”

Jade said, “Integrity resonates most with me, as this is key to the type of work, I do. I often deal with very vulnerable client’s where their trust and faith in me is paramount.”

Jade outside of work

Jade was born in London and names her children as the most important people in her life.

One fun fact about Jade was that she was the first person in her family to attend university.

Outside of work Jade loves travelling, her favourite place to travel is Jamaica as it’s where her family are from and she enjoys the good weather, great food, and it’s one of the best places to relax.

She also enjoys reading, watching films and tv shows; Jade named John Grimshaw as her favourite author, as his books are filled with suspense. She enjoys watching legal dramas as it dramatizes the work that she does.

Jade also loves listening to old school r and b music as it relaxes her.

Jade names her guilty pleasure as chocolate.
